Before leaving for Nashville we stopped off at the Kentucky Horse Park.
We hadn't quite realised just how important horses were in Kentucky (besides the Derby) but seeing the size of the horse park made it clear that they are really, really into horses and call themselves the 'horse capital of the world'!

We arrived just in time to see a presentation of some of the best race horses in the world (or America), that have retired and now live at the horse park...
Then there was a little 'Horses of the World' show where different breeds of horses were ridden by people wearing the traditional dress of the country's that breed are from - there was a British Knight on a Friesian, and Irish gypsy riding a gyspy horse, a (white skinned, blonde haired) Native American riding a Mustang, and a very rare breed of horse from India with funny pointy and curly ears, apparently there are only 500 of them in the world!
Then at the end there was a very patriotic display - they played 'Proud to be an American' while everyone stood up, some people took off their hats and placed them over the hearts and watched a cowboy gallop round the paddock with a big American flag...

It was lovely to see all the horses - it was a great little spontaneous pitstop that we might have otherwise just driven passed.
After a quick look round the gift shop, it was time to hit the road to Nashville...
