Last night we went to go and see the Addams Family musical on Broadway. We were lucky enough to get given some free tickets from the estate agent who's been helping to find a new studio for Elmwood - the theatre (or the theatre company) is a client of his and he was given tickets but couldn't go... so we went instead!
When we went to pick up our tickets we were a little miffed to find that they weren't together, but luckily I have a spare seat next to me, so we switched before the performance started - we had orchestra seats! It was great.
I was a bit unsure of what it would be like, not being the biggest fan of musicals in the first place, but also it's a new musical so it's hard to tell if it's going to be any good or not - but, I was really surprised. It was very funny and some of the songs were great, the band and the singing were fantastic and the puppetry in the performance was very clever.
Nathan Lane was the main attraction for a lot of people I think, he got a big cheer when he first appeared and a massive applause at the end - he was brilliant in it, very funny and great timing.
It was such a nice surprise to get the tickets, and such good tickets and it was a really nice treat to get out of studio on time and have a night out in New York. After the show we had a little wander around Times Square.
It's such a strange feeling, leaving work and going to see a Broadway show in Times Square - it's very surreal, but brilliant. I think we both got big waves of 'I can't believe we live here' last night, seeing all the crowds in Times Square. We've been there quite a few times and we still get overwhelmed by it all every time - I still feel like we're on holiday a lot of time. It's great.
Just as we were leaving Times Square, Miss Turner was told that she had beautiful eye balls...?
(It wasn't me by the way, it was someone trying to get us to go to a comedy club, although I am very fond of her eyeballs).
Perfect end to a perfect evening.
Glad you both enjoyed the show and the experience. I remember the music from the Adams family when it was on TV in the 60's !!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful eye balls - that's a new chat up line. be careful!
