Graceland...

After 3 hours or so after leaving Nashville we finally turned on to Elvis Presley Blvd and turned into the Graceland carpark...

  We had arrived!

The very nice lady at the ticket desk gave us half price tickets! She said it was because someone left an unused voucher, but really it's because she was from Ireland and we were British... so that was a good start to the tour. Another brilliant start to the tour - these bins!

Genius!

We didn't waste any time getting our audio tour headsets and jumping on the bus that took you across the road and up the drive to the King's Palace...

The house had been preserved since Elvis last lived there, and nothing had changed on the interior since he last decorated in the early 70's...

Laurence Llewelyn Bowen eat your heart out!

It was great seeing all his cars, all his costumes, all his gold records etc.

... and his private jets...

There was something a bit spooky about the whole place, I think it's because nothing had changed at all since he last lived there, but also it wasn't massively busy either - but we were glad there weren't queues for everything.

It was great to go back and see it in the sunshine too, Graceland in December is even more eery!

I think we both have a new found respect and love for Mr. Presley - we've been listening to him a LOT since we've got back... Graceland was just the start of our musical day in Memphis though, we had lots more to see - so it was back in the car we went...
