On Sunday afternoon I had a bit of a mooch around Cobble Hill. I walked a couple of miles, from Smith and 9th Street up to Brooklyn Fare - mainly up Court Street passed all the little independent shops and restaurants.
We'd been up and down Court Street in our Zipcar on the way to Ikea, and we'd mooched some parts of it before (Brooklyn Brainery's around there), but I'd never walked the entire length - and there's so much to see!
I think there were enough bars and restaurants along Court Street to keep up busy for months - we'll definitely be going back sometime soon to try some of them.
There were two really interesting shops towards the bottom of Court Street that I really liked (mainly for their window signs). The first was Black Gold Records...

Part record shop, part coffee shop, part antiques and oddities shop - it was great!
The other was By Brooklyn...
The other was By Brooklyn...
A little shop that only sells things that are made in Brooklyn! It was amazing to see just how much stuff is made here and how many different things there are. There was all sorts, from pickles to drinking bottles, from honey to clothing... it's very industrious and entrepreneurial little place.
Finally, right at the very bottom of Court Street, there was this classy looking establishment...
Unfortunately it was closed, so I couldn't sample their delights... shame!
