After a fun morning of doing our taxes we went to the MoMA to see the new Print/Out exhibition that's just opened...
The exhibition is about how printed material has helped people share ideas and break down political and geographical boundaries - but I think we were both a wee bit disappointed with it really.
There were some good pieces, there were some nice type posters and a couple of Damien Hirst's stuff (from when he did his own work!), but on the whole the pieces were a weeeee bit boring.
It wasn't a patch on the exhibitions that I've seen at the Design Museum. There were some amazing screen printed pieces that were printed with glow in the dark ink and put in a dark room. I'd love to do some screen printing with glow in the dark inks.
The rest of the MoMA was, as always, amazing though. Seeing actual Van Gogh's, Picasso's, Miro's and Klimt's in the flesh is incredible.
There were some other new pieces that I really liked, like these frames...
From a distance it looks like just a black piece of paper in a load of frames, but the frame wasn't a real frame, it was a single block that had been painted to look like a framed black square... if that makes sense.
This light-box wall was loooooooovely, it'd be great to have a long corridor and have this hanging on the wall.
There was also a room full of sweets in silver wrappers...
There was just a thin path running through the middle of the room, the rest of the floor was absolutely covered in tiny silver sweets. There were some children in the room asking their parents if they could have one - then the security guard said that they could!
Unfortunately Miss Turner overheard this and before I knew it she was tucking in...

The sweets were lemon by the way!
It was so lovely to go round the MoMA again. I think sometimes we forget how many amazing museums there are just a short train ride away. As we walked around the gallery I felt incredibly grateful that we're lucky enough to be able to go to the MoMA if we fancy it on a Sunday afternoon.
