Sights On The Subway...

I don't think there's every really a day that we get on the subway and don't see an interesting looking character - the commute to and from work is perfect for people watching.

Yesterday was especially good for subways sightings. In the morning I was waiting for the G train and noticed a man with a newly shaved and blue mohican and matching blue stripes across his face, around his eyes. This man usually dresses quite unusually, he sometimes gets the train dressed as a lady, sometimes as a man... I suppose it depends how he feels when he wakes up. That particular morning he obviously felt like painting blue lines over his eyes and cheeks...

Then on the journey back to Brooklyn in the evening, there was an awfully unconvincing transvestite. He/She was sitting there reading his/her book wearing a very short skirt and tights, holding the book with his/her massive hands, wearing a very heavily padded bra and hoping that no-one would noticed his/her 5 o'clock shadow that had grown during the day. He/She hadn't even gone to the effort to wear a wig, he/she just had a very masculine haircut...? I suppose Eddie Izzard's a bit like that though.

Each to their own.

Then later in the evening, we popped out to Bedford Avenue and on our way back, as we got off the L train there were two guys with a full-sized bed (complete with mattress) waiting to get on the train. Why the doors opened they just casually walked on with the bed, it seemed to fit perfectly in the carriage!

You certainly do see aaaaaaaaaaall types of things in New York.
