I went for a lovely New Years Day walk along the beach at Coney Island today...
It was a beautifully sunny but blustery day, and pretty chilly too - far too chilly to be swimming in the sea, but that didn't stop all the people doing the annual January 1st dip. Just as I arrived loads and loads of people were leaving the boardwalk and beach, some of them still dripping, lots of them with 'I did it' certificates in their shivering hands.
It must have been very invigorating to do it. Maybe that's January 1st 2013 sorted?!
I'd missed being by the sea. It's always a very relaxing, therapeutic place to be. Although admittedly, right on the board walk wasn't the most relaxing place to be as there was a bit of a party going on for all the swimmers, but a bit further along the beach, down by the water was lovely and calm.
Hopefully there'll be plenty more walks along the beach this year!
