We saw this huge Shepard Fairey pasting whilst out and about in Manhattan today. It's quite suprising just how much of his stuff is dotted around town - it's great!
(Pops at the keyboard again). I wonder if this was inspired by the wall paintings in Northern Ireland during the Troubles? What is a 'pasting' - it looks like very clever graffiti.
I think his paintings all have some political message, I'm not entirely sure what they are sometimes, most of the time I just think they look pretty!
'Pasting' is when the artwork has already been created, the designs will have been painted or sprayed onto paper first, in sections - and then the rolls of paper are taken to where ever they're going to be put up... then it's a bit like putting wallpaper up, they just paste it up on the walls (I think it's a similar kind of paste that they use).
