Buttermilk...

On an incredibly wet (there were floods!) Sunday, we went on a little adventure in our Zipcar.

We were headed to Ikea but we stopped off in a veeeery nice area of Brooklyn called Carroll Gardens for a spot of brunch at Buttermilk Channel.

We walked in to a cozy and dry, bustling restaurant and saw a bit of a queue at the bar. We asked for a table for 2 only to be told that there was a 45 minute wait, then for some reason the waitress lady said 'Oh, actually, there's a table free' and took us, jumping the queue, to our table.

The menu was amazing (and reasonable), there were so many delicious things to chose from. Abi had Eggs Huntington (renamed version of Eggs Benedict, we were on Huntington Street) and a side of warm coffee cake (which was delicious), and I had an ABC Grilled Cheese sandwich (A for Apple, B for Bacon, C for Cheddar!) - and as it was all off the brunch menu we had free Mimosa's and Bellini's!

It felt very British for some reason, almost Chatsworthy - maybe because of the colour scheme, but it was lovely and welcoming and it felt so nice to be sitting inside eating yummy food when the rain was pouring down outside.

I know I say this about a lot of places - but we're DEFINITELY going back to Buttermilk, they had fried pork-chops with cheddar waffles served with maple syrup on the menu!

Unfortunately, the good mood didn't last too long after we walked out the door, we ran back to the car, getting soaked, only to find a bloody parking ticket on the window. Oh well, we'll know to get the bus next time.
