Last night Abi and I continued on our quest to find the best BBQ in Brooklyn - we went to the newly opened Dinosaur Bar-B-Que...
There has been a LOT of hype about Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, people have been raving about the one up in Harlem for ages and apparently the first location in Upstate New York has people travelling for all over to eat there.
The Brooklyn restaurant is the newest of the 7 in the chain and it's already probably just as busy as all the others. We went early thinking we'd beat the crowds, but even at 5pm there was a 30 minute wait, so we sat at the bar for a bit and had some beers and Pickle Backs!
Unlike all the other BBQ places, this is a sit down restaurant with table service and actual plates - not a paper lined tray. The lack of standing in a queue was nice, but there's something I love about seeing all the big hunks of meat and picking which ones you want and then having it slapped on a metal tray.
The food was delicious - we tried pretty much a little bit of everything, wings, briskets, pulled pork, sausage, ribs, chicken and prawns (interesting addition!) with some Mac n' Cheese, Beans and a token side salad. There was just a little portion of each thing so it wasn't quiet as greedy or gluttonous as it sounds.

It was all mighty fine, but I think the pulled-pork was some of the best pulled pork I've had. The brisket wasn't a patch on Fette Sau and the ribs didn't come close to Briskettown. The Mac n' Cheese and the beans were absolutely amazing too.
So, as it currently stands...
So, as it currently stands...
Fette Sau has the best brisket (and pork belly)
Briskettown has the best ribs
Fletchers has the best originality with the menu (char sui and lamb shank etc)
Dinosaur has the best pulled pork and best sides.
There are still a few places to try - and I think we'll have to extend our research to the other boroughs too... it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it.
