It's Chriiiiiiiiiiiiiistmaaaaaaaaaas!!!

In less than an hour, Abi and I will be in the taxi heading towards JFK - we're VERY excited to be flying home for Christmas! It feels like aaaaaages since we've been back. I can't believe it's been a year since we were at the Plaza Hotel!

We've had another amazing year in New York and it feels like we've done even more this year than last year, or the year before - so who knows what next year will have in store?! Hopefully there'll be lots more stuff to share with you on the blog.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Where's George?

This afternoon I got given some change at the laundrette, in this change were three $1 notes, one of these notes had some writing on it... track this bill at www.wheresgeorge.com

So, when I got in I went on the site and entered in the registration number on my dollar. Once you enter the number, you put in your zip code and a little description of where you got the note and what condition it was in when you found it.

Then you get to see where your dollor's been!

My dollar is from 2006, it's been tracked for nearly 3 years and 218 days and has travelled an average of 0.87 miles a day - that's 1143 miles! It's now 837 miles from it's starting location, which was in Alabama!

The Land of Nod...

Yesterday evening Abi and I were mooching around town when we came across an amazing looking pop-up shop for The Land of Nod...

I think it was all mainly aimed at children, but we went in and instantly wanted to buy everything in there for us! Everything was so lovely and friendly looking, so bright and cheerful and fun...

It felt a bit like being in Father Christmas's toy factory!

We managed to refrain form buying the 4ft felt Christmas tree or a rocking crocodile... but I'm very tempted to pop back and get some of those knitted burgers and hotdogs.

A Little Lost...

Yesterday, hundreds and hundreds of people all dressed as Father Christmas went on a day long pub crawl all around New York for this year's annual Santa Con...

I think this particular Santa had lost his friends!

12.12.12...

Well, I tried and tried to get tickets, but when I eventually got through even the $7000 seats had sold out for tonight's Sandy Benefit concert at Madison Square Garden...

Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, Coldplay, Eddie Vedder and DAVE GROHL (... and Bon Jovi) are all playing at the concert, all in aid of the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The cheapest tickets I could find on Stub Hub were $850 this morning, with prices going up to $10,000+ per ticket... it's bonkers. I really hope those people are donating that money to charity.

Luckily it's on telly tonight, so I'll be able to sit in the comfort of our apartment and watch, maybe with a mince pie or two.

It's bound to be a bloody amazing show!

Canal Street Subway Tiles...

I love these simple graphic tiles in Canal Street Station... they brightened up a bit of a grim and grey Sunday subway ride this afternoon.

Oh, Christmas Tree...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Bedstuy!

Life Moves Pretty Fast...

I love this chalkboard that was in the Etsy shop... very true words too.

The Etsy Christmas Shop...

Yesterday Abi and I went along to the Etsy Pop-Up Christmas Shop in Soho...

It had been running for a couple of weeks and was ending this weekend so I'm glad we were able to see it. The whole thing had been curated by a handful of designery arty creative types from New York, they had each selected some of their favourite items from Etsy to be sold in this one-off shop.

Before you even got inside the shop, there were crafty arty things going on - there was a artists sitting in the window wrapping presents and making a huge face out of them...

The inside of the shop looked amazing, there were so many things to look at, and it was all presented in such a great way...

Through-out the run of the shop there were various events happening,  there were seminars happening during the day and music performances in the evenings - on Saturday afternoon the stage was taken up with a couple of people offering a brilliant service...

Blindfolded present wrapping!

The space was full of all sorts of things, from art and old pictures on the walls, to childrens wig-wams and teddy bears, from polyhedron wood candlestick holders to feather necklaces. There were also little work stations where you could get things made or printed for you right there and then...

They even had some Rob Ryan pieces for sale...
The whole shop was great - I think it should be a permanent shop, they could change the curators each month, like that other shop 'Story'... maybe they'll have more pop up's through-out the year or something.
