On Friday afternoon, we finished work a wee bit early as it's a holiday weekend - so we went up and met with Abi's friend Alice at Madison Square Park (to see the big head) and then made our way over to the new end of the Highline on 30th St.
The latest section of the Highline's been open for a few weeks now - and there's been a special exhibition at the end of the new section, called Rainbow City. It's curated by the Californian design agency/illustrators 'Friends With You'.
Friends With You are known for making bright, colourful vinyl toys based on their really simple (and quite babyish, but brilliant) illustrations, and their Rainbow City exhibition was like all their other work, but just on a veeeeeeery different scale...
There were all these tall inflatable characters, mixed with blow up shapes that you could spin and punch, and people did...
It was such a fun place, so bright and colourful and happy...
There were some bouncy castle-esq parts, huge inflatable mushrooms that you could go inside...
Unfortunately the queue for the mushroom was a wee bit long and full of little children - actually I don't think I would have fit through the door to the bouncy castle inside anyway.
The whole place was absolutely fantastic - it felt just like being inside a Super Mario video game, there was funny music playing, and everyone seemed to be having so much fun.
The exhibition closed on Tuesday (I think) unfortunetly I don't think we'll make it make there before it goes, I would love to back and have a bit more of a play... it was like nothing I'd seen before. I was great!
