8th Avenue Station

Dotted around 8th Avenue station are some fantastic little characters. They're all bronze sculptures by an artist called Tom Otterness - they're bloody great!

  1. These look wonderfully wierd - what an imagination the artist must have. Is there a theme to the pictures? Must have something to do with money - are there lots of Banks around 8th Avenue? (Pops)

  2. 8th Avenue's closer to Bleeker Street and getting into the Village, so it's a financial area, but I've just looked on Wikipedia and I think the whole money aspect is aimed at the corruptness of the Mayor of New York at the time (I think it was finished in 2001)...
