Chicago – Day One...

This was part of a sculpture right by our hotel in Chicago - it was Chicago's largest sculpture consisting of lots and lots wandering legs in the park. It was fitting for our first day in Chicago, as did a fair bit of wandering and exploring and art sight-seeing in the morning...

After a delicious breakfast at Yolk we walked towards Millennium Park, a big park in Downtown Chicago, surrounded by Skyscrapers and full of amazing architectural art.

The first piece of art we came across in the park was the Crown Fountain - two large rectangular blocks  with water running down the sides, sitting at each end of a paved area covered in a shallow layer of water...

Each block has a video of a face projected on it. The faces would move occassionally, sometimes blinking of licking their lips, but mainly keeping very still. Then, every few minutes the faces would pucker up and start spurting water out of their mouths...
It was like magic - the water was coming out of a seemingly completely brick wall!

It was lovely to sit and see all the children enjoy running and splashing around in the water...

It was only about 10 in the morning, but it was already blummin' hot, so splashing around in the water was very tempting... but we had more exploring to do.
