Franklin Barbecue...

Not only is Austin home to the most delicious hotdogs we've ever had, and the best and biggest donuts we've ever eaten - but it's also home to the best BBQ in America (some say the WORLD!)...

Franklin Barbecue started life in this caravan...

but things grew and grew as people got to hear how amazing the food was, and now people queue for 3 hours to get a plateful of brisket. We turned up at 10.30am and the queue was already down the road...

It doesn't open until 11am, but the people at the front of the queue had been there since 8am! Lots of people had brought their own chairs, and for those who didn't there was a man renting some...

... and Tuesdays are their quiet days!

It was about 1pm by the time we got to order our tray of meaty goodness, we got some brisket, some ribs, some beans and a monstrous sandwich called the Tipsy Texan that had chopped beef, smoked sausage and coleslaw...

It was all delicious, but the brisket was absolutely incredible, it was so tender and juicy and the sandwich was soooooooooooooooooo good! It was WELL worth the wait!

Despite cooking over 1500lbs of meat just for Tuesday, by the time we'd finished our meat-feast everything had gone...

It was SO good and very deserving of all the praise and accolades that they've got over the passed few years.

We're DEFINITELY going back to Franklin next time we're in Austin!
