Yesterday there was a sand sculpture competition happening down at Coney Island, so we went along to have a look. I think we were both expecting it to be a professional sand sculpture competition, but when we got down there we realised that anyone could register for free and take part.
So rather than seeing 8 foot high replicas of the New York skyline, or the Egyptian Pyramids, there were things like this...

Also, with the competition being open to the public, and the Coney Island public, it meant that there were some questionable entrants, some of which weren't exactly appropriate for the family event...


In the end, we decided to leave the sculptures to it and left the beach, heading for the fun fair instead...
